"LJ909" (lj909)

Coming soon to an Acura dealer near you, Acura is releasing a limited run of 360 TLX’s called the TLX PMC Edition.
“Handcrafted” by NSX Technicians at Acura’s Performance Manufacturing Center where the NSX is assembled, the TLX PMC gets a special red paint job shared with the NSX called Valencia Red Pearl (Black is an option as well). They said its the most vibrant paint they have ever created.
Special touches to let you know that you have something, special I guess include:
Special numbered plaque for the enter console.
Gloss black roof, mirrors and 19' wheels.
And an appropriate interior with A-Spec steering wheel, leather sport seats with Alcantara inserts and red stitching. It also comes standard with the Technology Package.
Its cool they seem to be getting their performance mojo back, but this whole thing amounts to nothing but a waste of time for world class trained technicians making a supercar no one wants. Nothing of note performance wise was done to the engine on the TLX PMC. It still comes with SH-AWD and the 290 horse V6 which makes this PMC model nothing more than a special edition A-Spec trim with NSX paint.
No word on pricing or release date yet, but its cool? I guess? Its a letdown because they could have done more with then engine. Give it the hybrid system from the NSX or something. What do you guys think of it?

Mehhh i dont care for it. Nsx is a excellent car but has a lot of competition in that segment.

I think it looks absolutely breathtaking (for a sedan). Best appearance only package I’ve seen in awhile.
But.... It's still JUST an appearance package which is a bit of a shame. It would be nice to see something performance oriented from Acura like the good ol' days

Yea. If the description of the paint is right , that red should be a stunner in person.
But yea like I mentioned , its mostly a letdown. Especially considering its being hand assembled at their performance center, but there’ s no performance? Makes no sense.

It’s this kind of exclusivity that gets Honda fans all worked up. It looks great but missed an opportunity for a real performance upgrade.

So little insider info. This is more of a test run as the next gen performance T LX will exclusively be at the NSX plant. Honda already has been planning this due to slow sedan and NSX sales.
Al so rumor but likely the next gen TLX could share the turbo 3.5l in the NSX

It really is, and I don’t like reds.

With the Type-S around the corner, it’s not worth the effort. Anything drastic would require massive re-engineering as well.
That paint is a $7000 option for the NSX, and the whole PMC edition TLX is ~$3000 more than a normal one. For a hand built car (no “quotes”, it really is hand built) it’s actually a good value if you like the car and colour.

This would make sense as I don’t see the NSX lasting much longer. And the investment in the facility had to be pretty big. I hope what you say is true though. I would seriously consider a TLX with SH-AWD and a turbo V6. It needs to have damn near 400 horses though to be taken seriously.

Yes but you’d have to be some kind of Acura/Honda fan though. Without the performance I don’t see it. I mean I see it but not see it enough to take it seriously you know?

I was totally expecting a Turbo V6 TLX Type-S at the NY Auto show, and instead we got this. Disappointing. I didn’t even go near the Acura section at the show.

Yea this would've been a great opportunity for a new age Type S.

It’s a special edition, plain and simple. Lots of manufactures make special editions that have similar levels of upgrades (paints, some materials), but they’re not fully hand built, and there is far more than 360 of them. For the small amount extra, this is actually a good deal for the person who wants a TLX, but can afford the extra for exclusivity.
This is around the corner, so it’s not worth investing in the old car.

This coming Type S is what the A-Spec should have been. But it makes sense it would come with the next gen car.

Yep from what I have heard around 400hp. Seen TLX with MFG plates around Marysville . Have a feeling they are mules.
Also they plan on keeping the NSX around awhile. Just super low numbers. I think they are at 1 a day maybe now.
I also wouldn’t be surprised if the next type R would be built there as well

Totally agree with you. I miss the old days of the integra GSR and TypeR and even the later years with type S models that actually had power improvements.

It would have been a real collector car if they took the V6 from the NSX and detuned it to say 450 bhp and sold it for about 65k. With the SHAWD it would have been something to see!

This is what it should have been to begin with. Especially with this being assembled at a place called Performance Manufacturing Center.

I agree. Most people don’t know what it takes to get a really high quality paint job, a t this price, it’s a steal. Now, let's see what you get with Tesla and what that costs. Hint: it's ugly.
